A Community Safety Conference

Closer Working and Merger of CDRPs, DATs and Other Partnerships

Monday 12th July 2004
Local Government House, Central London

The Police Reform White Paper (Policing a New Century) outlined the Government’s aims of bringing DATs and CDRPs together. Arrangements for the integration of DATs and CDRPs in unitary and metropolitan authorities, and closer working in two tier authorities should now be finalised. This conference looks at the practical issues in implementation and achievement of shared outcomes. The conference will look at the Government expectations of authorities in relation to merger and closer working in the light of the next round of crime and disorder and drug strategy audits and the expectations for the CPA.

The conference will provide good practice illustration and focus on the roles of the merged agencies and the links to other bodies such as YOTs and the Local Strategic Partnership. In addition pilot work developed through the Innovations Forum with the Home Office will highlight the potential for greater target alignment and more streamlined and flexible funding.
