This one-day conference focuses on the handling of intelligence for investigative purposes and prevention of crime within the public sector. The conference will look at the practical acquisition, storage and use of intelligence within the legal framework. The law around intelligence handling and recommendations from the Bichard Inquiry will be examined.
The conference will focus on practical examples of pooling of intelligence across boundaries, illustrated by examples from national bodies and local authorities. This will also include the way in which private sector companies can assist in the collection and handling of intelligence.
Addresses will be given by professionals in intelligence handling and will include in-depth examination of the intelligence centres of the Department for Work and Pensions, London Team Against Fraud and the National Criminal Intelligence Service and their use to local authority investigations.
