This one-day conference examines partnerships and shared services within local authority benefit administration. This conference comes at a time when the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) are both highlighting “Shared-Risk” partnerships as one of the ways forward to efficiency savings.
The current emphasis on improvements in customer services, together with the efficiency drive following the Gershon Review, has led to new business models throughout local authorities, including within the revenues and benefits services. One area currently highlighted is the move towards true, shared-risk partnerships as a way of reducing costs while at the same time improving performance. These partnerships include two or more councils using shared revenues and benefits services, supporting arrangements and shared procurement. In addition, there are an increasing number of revenues and benefits departments being included in large council-wide strategic partnerships. This conference examines these partnerships and looks at the successes and challenges of implementation and partnership working.
