The annual Local Authority CCTV Conference focuses on the key issues and developments in local authority CCTV systems and examines forthcoming changes in legislation, good practice and technological innovation.
This year’s conference will provide a comprehensive round-up of recent and forthcoming issues including:
• the role of CCTV within the “Working Together To Protect Crowded Places” programme and the wider counter-terrorism strategy;
• an examination of the use of CCTV for surveillance and RIPA (following a wave of recent publicity);
• transmission options;
• the evaluation of systems under KLoE judgement criteria.
Workshops will allow delegates to examine an issue in depth. The workshops cover topical issues of importance to the public sector – technological innovation, meeting the environmental agenda and transport innovations.
All speakers are experts in their field with the conference hearing from representatives of key public sector agencies including the Local Government Association and the Office of the Information Commissioner as well as individuals and companies with comprehensive knowledge of technological innovation and CCTV management and evaluation.
Conference Objectives

To focus on the key issues and developments in local authority CCTV systems including forthcoming changes in legislation, good practice and technological innovation.

To look at the role of CCTV within the “Working Together to Protect Crowded Places” programme and the Wider Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST)

To examine the use of local authority CCTV for surveillance under RIPA and the local authorities’ response to RIPA consultation.

To examine the options for transmission and to provide an evaluation of options that best fit local authority requirements.

To look at how local authorities can ensure that usage of CCTV and surveillance meets legislation, guidance and good practice.

To provide an examination of the use of KLoEs in CCTV evaluation and the application of the Audit Commission’s judgement criteria to the CCTV service.

To provide a forum to enable an in-depth look at key issues of relevance to local authority CCTV management including technological innovation, meeting the environmental agenda and transport innovations.
